Fall has just started (allegedly) and October greets us at midnight. I am, of course, starting another project yet I have made no progress on my last project. Because I am me and that is a thing that I do regularly. Lets dive into what I have in store.

I am starting a little bit of a journey to learn more about the horror genre of film. The goal of this project is to go back to the origins of film itself and see how the horror movie has changed over the last 120 years.

The remake of the 1977 classic starring Tilda Swinton with three roles and Dakota Johnson who disappears into the lead character is easily my favorite horror movie now. The VVitch, released a couple of years earlier, had held that title. Both movies share their subgenre, revealed in their stories (sorry, no spoilers, yet!) and they share a number of strong thematic elements.

In my previous post, I discuss how watching Horror movies has helped me overcome some anxiety in recent weeks. Today, I saw this Reddit thread: Does anyone else find horror movies comforting? One of the comments in that thread links to the following article.

As of today, April 16th, 2019, I have put an entire 79 hours and 16 minutes into movies so far this year. That’s over three solid days of cinema goodness, almost an average of one day per month. I’ve been watching a variety of things from His Girl Friday (1940) to The Battery (2012) to Us (2019). In this post, I am going to dive in to the horror genre, easily my favorite of them all. I expect this will be an ongoing series for a variety of reasons, some of which I will discuss in this post.

This is my personal blog. The idea is to write about movies I enjoy and display some of the statistical tracking I’ve come up with. I will also write about music, traveling, and other things from time to time.
